Data Analyst

Location: Atlantic City, NJ  |  Position Status: Full Time  |  Position Shift: Days
The data analyst supports AtlantiCare Health Services FQHC's goal of improving patient safety, patient experience, quality of care, health equity and monitoring of overall healthcare costs by running data on clinical, financial and operational aspects. The data is also used for quality improvement and practice transformation work to ensure maintenance of Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) and other quality indicators.

The data analyst executes daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly reports from multiple databases using CCL, SQL, CSS and JavaScript, including recurring reports for internal and external stakeholders, as well as daily ad hoc reports requested by individual staff members or committees.

The data analyst also works closely with clinical staff and grant managers. The analyst will be responsible for the collection, validation and analysis of clinical and financial data from multiple sources and interprets the output as reports, charts, graphs, tables and dashboards using available software and tools. The analyst promotes self-service analytics for FQHC adoption, understanding and use of the data.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
  • Creating interactive reports and modifying code using various tools, such as Discern Explorer (CCL), SQL, Discern Analytics, CSS, JavaScript and HealtheAnalytics.
  • Extracting data from existing databases in support of strategic goals, performance improvement and grants and converting to usable dashboards accessible by all staff.
  • Executing the work plan of reports to run daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly or yearly (e.g., dashboards, UDS, LOA, PCMH and CAREWare grant reports).
  • Documenting methodology to allow for better understanding of dashboard architecture, data schema, formulas and predicative analytic algorithms used in reports.
  • Working closely with leadership and quality committees to ensure data integrity.
  • Tracking departmental metrics to create and provide monthly data reports.
  • Collaborating with health information technology specialists to identify shared fields or updates.
  • Participating in team-focused meetings on optimization and data quality improvement opportunities.
  • Auditing the validity of data to ensure data is free of defects and not incomplete.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in computer sciences, data science, healthcare informatics, statistics or related field preferred.
  • EXPERIENCE: Minimum 1 year experience in computer science/technology, healthcare analytics or healthcare informatics. 1 or more years of hands-on experience with data reporting, analytics and/or predictive analytics, including Discern Explorer (CCL), SQL, Discern Analytics, CSS, JavaScript and HealtheAnalytics. Familiarity with EHR systems, preferably Cerner. Demonstrated ability to interpret healthcare data and effectively present sophisticated analyses and findings to both subject matter experts and lay audiences. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications required. Excellent oral, written communication and problem-solving skills required. Strong ability to work independently and within a team setting to achieve outcomes.
 
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

Demonstrates the competencies as established on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool for this position.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Remote working opportunity. Must be readily available for virtual meetings with audio-visual set-up. This position requires sitting, standing, walking, stooping and crouching for a majority of the workday. This position works with such equipment as a computer terminal, printer and copier. This position may require occasional lifting.
