The PACS Coordinator/System Administrator for Speech Recognition is responsible for overseeing and coordinating existing projects and participation in new PACS, digital imaging and speech-recognition dictation initiatives. The coordinator acts as a liaison in digital imaging initiatives within Radiology and other internal departments. Ensures that daily reconciliation of records is completed in both the PACs and Speech Recognition environments.
The coordinator assists with the development of operating standards, policies, procedures and efficient workflow processes. The PACS coordinator/system administrator reviews feedback from customers, compiles and analyzes support data, and recommends appropriate procedural and educational changes. This position develops, coordinates and provides training on PACS and speech-recognition dictation. The PACS coordinator/system administrator ensures all department, hospital and JCAHO guidelines are met for operation. On-call responsibility will be rotated between PACS coordinator and PACS assistant. On-call pay (carrying pager) will be paid according to the AtlantiCare Policy. The minimum 4-hour time and half pay will be paid for calls that require assistant PACS coordinator to be on-site. Punching in/out for these calls is required.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: Graduate of an accredited radiological technologist school.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Must be licensed by the State of New Jersey, Department of Environmental Protection and ARRT.

EXPERIENCE: 5 years of CT and/or MRI imaging experience preferred. Excellent written, computer and oral communication skills required. Must be able to work effectively with diverse groups of people, possess familiarity with physicians, and have the ability to work well under pressure on PACS/speech recognition-related projects. Must have a clear understanding of the workflow of the department, show optimism with new projects, and have the ability to train new physicians on PACS, web server and speech recognition applications. Proficiency in clinical applications preferred at time of hire. Incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be required for this position within 30-60 days from date of hire.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Potential for exposure to the hazards and risks of the hospital environment, including exposure to infectious disease, hazardous substances and potential injury. This position requires sitting, standing, walking, stooping and crouching a majority of the workday. Works with such equipment as a computer terminal, fax machine, printer and copier.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
This position reports to the imaging managers.
