Pharmacy Inpatient Buyer (City)

Location: Atlantic City, NJ  |  Position Status: Full Time  |  Position Shift: Days
The Pharmacy Technician – Level 4 (pharmacy technician specialist) assists the pharmacist with technical and non-technical routine duties related to the acquisition, storage and dispensing of medications, chemicals and related supplies.

The Pharmacy Technician – Level 4 prepares medication orders, stocks carts and inventories, delivers medication to the nursing units, and fills medication dispensing machines. The specialist also performs routine clerical duties in support of operations. Under the supervision of the pharmacist, the specialist prepares IVs, piggybacks and TPNs according to established policies and procedures.

The Pharmacy Technician – Level 4 works directly with the pharmacist as it relates to technical and non-technical duties. This technician performs the duties and activities that a staff pharmacist would typically be tasked with. These technicians leverage the Pharmacy Service line's ability to optimize pharmacists. The Pharmacy Technician – Level 4's responsibilities are varied and this position receives instruction and training from supervisor on processes and procedures.

This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and cooperation.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent required. Business/college courses preferred.
  • LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: New Jersey registration required. National pharmacy technician certification required.
  • EXPERIENCE: 1 year of AtlantiCare pharmacy experience required. Strong organizational, prioritization communications and mathematic skills required. Ability to perform tasks as directed. Pharmacy computer system experience required. Effective communication skills required. Patient confidentiality required. Proficiency with Microsoft applications required. Flexible schedule required, which may require working various shifts and weekends depending on department needs. Proficiency in clinical applications preferred at time of hire.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
Demonstrates the competencies as listed on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool for this position.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Potential for exposure to the hazards of the hospital environment, such as exposure to infectious disease, hazardous waste and potential injury.

Requires the ability to stand and walk 90% of the time. Requires the ability to reach and lift up to 30 to 40 pounds.
