Radiology Technologist - Nights

Location: Pomona, NJ  |  Position Status: Part Time  |  Position Shift: Nights
The diagnostic technologist performs diagnostic testing according to established departmental procedures, ensuring the delivery of quality patient care. Diagnostic testing includes X-ray, CAT scan, ultrasound, MRI, nuclear medicine, mammography, interventional procedures and mobile mammography.

The diagnostic technologist performs diagnostic testing as directed by the physician at a competent technical level not requiring constant supervision. This position operates diagnostic equipment, including peripheral equipment, in a safe and efficient manner to obtain optimal test results. The technologist manages the patient during the diagnostic procedure to meet quality patient care standards. This position ensures supplies are maintained and reports problems with equipment to the appropriate staff member.

This position actively participates in and supports student clinical education activities where applicable.

This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and cooperation.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • LICENSE: Licensed by the State of New Jersey, Department of Environmental Protection for all modalities except ultrasound. ARDMS is required for ultrasound.
  • EXPERIENCE: Candidates must possess ability to multitask with attention to fine detail in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in clinical applications preferred at time of hire. Incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be required for this position within 30-60 days from date of hire. State license expires end of each year and must be renewed annually to work. ARRT expires on incumbent's date of birth and must be renewed to work.

SPECIALTY EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION CERTIFICATION/REQUIREMENTS:
  • Graduate of an accredited radiological technologist school required.
  • 1 year of diagnostic testing preferred.
  • BLS for HealthCare Providers required.
  • Licensed by the State of New Jersey, Department of Environmental Protection.
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS:
Demonstrates the ability to perform the department-specific competencies as listed on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Potential for exposure to the hazards and risks of the hospital environment, including exposure to infectious disease, bloodborne pathogens, potential injury and hazardous substances, including electromagnetic radiation. Position requires the ability to stand a majority of the time. Technologists performing MRIs require the ability to sit in front of a CRT monitor much of the time. Position requires extensive pushing, pulling and lifting of patients and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
