Registered Nurse Patient Flow Manager - Egg Harbor Township - Full Time

Location: Egg Harbor Twp, NJ  |  Position Status: Full Time  |  Position Shift: Days
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required in clinical discipline; master's degree preferred.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required.
  • Current RN licensure in the state of New Jersey required.
  • Minimum of six (6) years of experience, including clinical practice experience, required.
  • Three (3) years of demonstrated management experience in hospital operations or a clinical department is required.
  • Weekend, shift work, holiday, on-call and overtime required.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple and continually changing priorities to make rapid, safe decisions.

POSITION SUMMARY
Under administrative direction, the Patient Flow RN Manager (PFM) oversees the Patient Flow department and supports the hospital's patient flow objectives as they relate to patient placement assignments, customer service and capacity optimization.

The PFM:
  • Manages the assignments of all patients requiring nursing unit bed assignments including observation, inpatient and post-procedural. This is attained by collaborating with physicians, nursing and diverse hospital departments to assign patients according to units' scope of service, admission criteria, patient flow algorithms and hospital protocols.
  • Leads multiple and continually changing priorities to make rapid decisions, problem solve and ensure appropriate, timely assignment of patient beds.
  • Maintains strong, collegial interdepartmental relationships to ensure ongoing performance improvements.
  • Serves as a clinical resource for patient assignment decisions.
  • Collaborates with physician advisor/designee for dispute resolution of patient placement assignment decisions.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required.
  • Bachelor's in nursing or allied health required.
  • Master's degree preferred.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:
  • Current RN licensure in the state of New Jersey required.

EXPERIENCE/COMPENCIES REQUIRED:
  • Minimum of six (6) years of experience, including clinical practice experience, required.
  • Three (3) years of demonstrated management experience in hospital operations or a clinical department is required.
  • Weekend, shift work, holiday, on-call and overtime required.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple and continually changing priorities to make rapid, safe decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement and monitor change.
  • Demonstrated highly effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness as a group leader and participant.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with multiple members of other healthcare and administrative leadership teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to think critically, develop conceptual designs for clinical services and plan and lead successful projects.
  • Demonstrates use of the organizational process improvement process.
  • Weekend, shift work, holiday, on-call and overtime required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and strong verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Excellent delegation, technology and analytical skills preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in clinical and patient flow information systems required at time of hire. Incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be required for this position within 60-90 days from date of hire.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
Demonstrates the competencies as established on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool for this position.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The position requires sitting, standing, walking and stooping a majority of the workday. Works with the following equipment daily: computer terminal, fax machine, printer and copier.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
This position reports to department leadership and supervises incumbents as assigned.
