The RN team leader is a member of the interdisciplinary team working in collaboration with the medical director and clinical and administrative leadership. The team leader supervises the clinical staff of the medical office and coordinates recruitment of nurses and medical assistants. The team leader assists with the day-to-day operation of clinical issues and responds to operational inquiries. The team leader supports office procedures and processes developed and implemented by the Director of Nursing that supports the health center's operations.
The team leader utilizes the care process consistent with nurse and medical assistant license and/or certification, including initiation of interventions within individual scope of practice.
The team leader assists with staff scheduling and ensuring staff competency levels and provides for adequate, competent staffing levels that support an environment that encourages professional growth and development. The team leader responds to staff questions and customer service issues, assists staff with problems and refers to clinical and administrative leadership, as appropriate.
The team leader is responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance with point-of-care testing (POCT), proficiency testing and initial and ongoing POCT competencies for all staff. Additionally, this position ensures compliance with regulatory (DOH, CLIA and CLIS) protocols and licensure.
The team leader assists with the interviewing, hiring, orientation and evaluation process of staff members, seeks out opportunities, makes recommendations and assists with coordination of changes to integrate and enhance services within the medical office.
The team leader assesses clinical staff educational needs and plans, develops and implements continuing education programs in coordination with Quality Department. Educational needs include initial and ongoing competency of staff.
The team leader actively supports performance improvement initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required. BSN preferred.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Current license as a registered nurse in the state of New Jersey and current BLS HCP required. Valid New Jersey driver's license required.

EXPERIENCE: 2-4 years of nursing experience in relevant field preferred. Proficiency in clinical applications preferred at time of hire. Incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be required for this position within 30-60 days from date of hire.

Potential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the Federally Qualified Health Center environment, including exposure to infectious disease, blood-borne pathogens, hazardous substances and potential injury.
